Alvin Lee was one of the guitar greats. His untimely death, at 68, in March 2013, brought tributes from every corner of the music world. Virtuoso American Joe Satriani spoke of Alvin as ‘a big influence on my playing. He was a great musician and a gentleman too,’ while fellow Brit Peter Frampton echoed those sentiments: ‘He was a wonderful person and an amazing player.’

This 1990 concert contains songs old and new, painting a picture of the evolution of Lee’s music and stagecraft leading the band Ten Years After. Comprising Leo Lyons (bass), Ric Lee (drums) and Chick Churchill (keyboards), they had re-formed the previous year and recorded a new album ‘About Time’ for long-time label Chrysalis Records. It was intended to be a major comeback and gave them the chance to make their first UK appearances since 1974, with the exception of the 1983 Reading Festival. It would be followed in 1991 by a major European tour with support from Wishbone Ash and Man.
